Cibona learns its opponents for the ABA League group stage
After just one season away, Cibona have returned to the elite of regional basketball

At the ABA League Assembly meeting held in Zagreb at the beginning of the week, the groups were drawn and the competition format for the 2026/27 season was approved. The regional league will be played in an expanded format featuring 20 clubs, divided into two groups.
Upon their return to the ABA League, Cibona will compete in Group A alongside Crvena zvezda, Cedevita Olimpija, Budućnost, Igokea, FMP, Borac, Krka, Slovan Bratislava and Široki.
Group B, which includes Zadar, consists of Dubai, Partizan, Cluj, Studentski centar Derby, Spartak, Bosna, Mega, Ilirija and Vienna.
In the first phase, which will be played in a double round-robin format, the top four teams from each group will advance to the Top 8, while the remaining 12 teams will continue in the play-out, carrying over the points they have earned. The top six teams in the Top 8 will qualify directly for the playoffs, while the remaining two spots will be decided through the play-in tournament, followed by the quarterfinals and then the Final Four (semifinals and final).
The new season will tip off on the last weekend of September (26–28), with the schedule to be announced at a later date. The Final Four is scheduled for May 28–30 next year.
