Cibona is evaluating competition options for the 2026/2027 season

As part of planning for the upcoming season, the club is currently considering several competitive options and has already begun concrete discussions with representatives of certain organizations regarding possible participation models for the 2026/2027 season.

Among the options being considered by the club are European competitions under the umbrella of Euroleague Basketball, namely the EuroCup, FIBA competitions, as well as regional competitions, including the possibility of participating in the ABA League.

The final decision will depend on several sporting and business-related factors, including the level and continuity of competition throughout the season, opportunities for the development of young players, the competitiveness of the environment, the commercial potential of the competition, expected revenues and participation costs, as well as the club’s long-term sustainability.

The goal of KK Cibona is to secure a competitive framework that will enable the club’s continuous sporting development, maintain a stable rhythm of demanding games throughout the year, and further strengthen its competitiveness on both the regional and European levels.

“Cibona must be part of a competitive environment that will provide the club with continuity of high-quality and demanding games throughout the entire season, while also creating the conditions for further sporting and organizational development. The discussions we are currently conducting are directed precisely toward that goal”, said Tomislav Šerić, director of BC Cibona.

In the current season, Cibona secured second place in the regular season standings, while the final outcome of the competitive year will also play an important role in defining the final competition model for next season.

The club will inform the public in a timely manner about all further steps and the final decision.
