Cibona in the dramatic final of the "master" over Dubrava to the semifinals of the SuperSport Premier League

After an exciting and uncertain game, Cibona defeated Dubrava 92:87 (23:26, 23:23, 24:17, 22:21) and advanced to the semifinals of the playoffs, where they will play against Split. The match was full of twists and turns and excellent shooting spirit on both sides

Match report

BC Cibona opened the game better only briefly, but BC Dubrava quickly took control after Cibona’s early lead, mainly thanks to inspired performances from Čolak and Wright. The visitors led 23–26 after the first quarter and extended their advantage to double digits in the second period. However, Cibona responded before halftime with a series of three-pointers, and Dubrava went into the break with only a narrow lead (46–49).

The second half was played basket for basket. Cibona managed to regain control late in the third quarter and entered the final ten minutes with a 70–66 advantage. In a dramatic finish, the home side preserved their lead through Roberson, Šiško, and Palokaj, eventually breaking Dubrava’s resistance.

The top scorers were Šiško with 18 points for Cibona and Čolak with 23 points for Dubrava.

Before the start of the game, a minute of silence was held in honor of the late Luka Milovac.

Ivan Rudež, Cibona head coach: “Congratulations to my players for their fight. It was a very emotional and exhausting game, which is typical in the playoffs, especially against an opponent that had a slight psychological advantage, something that was evident in the opening minutes and in our defensive lack of concentration. We showed intelligence and heart, even though this was far from the style of play we want. The playoffs are unpredictable, and you need mental toughness and difficult shots to go in. I also have to praise Žan, who played like a lion and showed true leadership. Congratulations to Dubrava, who pushed us to our energetic limit. I would also like to congratulate them on their anniversary and wish them the best in the future”.

Renato Serdarušić, Cibona player: “I think this was the most exciting series in our championship. Congratulations to Dubrava, who were truly competitive, and now it’s up to us to focus and rest for Split”.
