KK Cibona strengthens roster: Matej Rudan and Renato Serdarušić join the Wolves

KK Cibona has officially signed contracts with two new players who will wear the 'Wolves' jersey in the upcoming season: Matej Rudan and Renato Serdarušić. As the season approaches, Cibona is set to compete in the ABA 2 league and the Croatian National Championship, while also returning to the European stage in the FIBA Europe Cup qualifiers.

Matej Rudan’s return to the 'Tower'

For Matej Rudan, rejoining Cibona marks a return to the place where he took some of his first professional steps. After starting in Omiš, he spent two years at the 'Tower' before moving to Bayern Munich. His career path includes stints at Mega, Breogran, Spartak Subotica, and KK Dinamo. Rudan noted that the decision to return was easy after a conversation with coach Ivan Rudež, who presented a clear plan for his role in the team.

Rudan aims to bring a modern dynamic to the squad:

Small-ball flexibility at the center position.

Floor spacing and secondary playmaking abilities.

High energy and a focus on team-oriented basketball.

Commitment to building locker room chemistry.

Renato Serdarušić: Versatility and defensive potential

The second new addition is Renato Serdarušić, a 203 cm tall forward born in Bjelovar. Having previously played for Cedevita Junior and Šibenka, Serdarušić views this move as a significant step in his career. He is known for his versatility, being able to contribute through defense, outside shooting, and transition play. This will be his first experience in a European club competition, a challenge he embraces with great motivation.

Coach Rudež on the new signings

Head coach Ivan Rudež emphasized that both players, both born in 2001, fit the profile of the system he wants to build. He highlighted Rudan's international experience as a source of stability and Serdarušić's potential to guard multiple positions and hit outside shots. These signings represent the initial steps in assembling a roster capable of handling a dense schedule across three different competitions.
