Starting next season, Cibona will compete in the ABA League and the Basketball Champions League, in addition to the domestic championship
In addition to stabilizing the club’s operations, efforts are also focused on shaping the roster and planning the competition schedule

Following a successful season that culminated in winning the Croatian championship title and celebrating with fans at Dražen Petrović Square, Cibona and its management have already begun intensive preparations for the upcoming season.
In the new campaign, alongside defending its domestic league title, the club will compete in two prestigious competitions, facing a number of renowned European clubs. In accordance with the club management's decision and the confirmation received from the governing bodies of the respective competitions, Cibona will compete in the top tier of the ABA League and the Basketball Champions League, organized by FIBA, next season.
“These decisions have been carefully considered, taking into account all relevant factors. We are delighted that, starting this autumn, our fans and basketball enthusiasts in Zagreb will have the opportunity to watch exciting matchups both in the domestic championship and in the ABA League and Basketball Champions League. These competitions provide attractive opponents, highly competitive games, a platform for the club’s continued stabilization, and an opportunity to return Cibona to the position it belongs in. We believe participating in these competitions will bring numerous benefits to the club, our coaches and players, as well as our fans and basketball supporters”, said Cibona director Tomislav Šerić.
These decisions form part of a broader strategy aimed at returning Cibona to Europe’s most prestigious basketball competitions. At the same time, careful consideration is being given to the demands of the competition schedule and the club’s ability to successfully meet the challenges posed by all three competitions in which it will participate next season.
“Cibona is a great and powerful brand, not only in Croatia but also across the European and global basketball landscape. This value has been recognized by both FIBA and the ABA League, as evidenced by the fact that Cibona has received an invitation to compete directly in the group stage of the Basketball Champions League next season. Aware of the challenges and the high standards we have set for ourselves, we continue to work on securing the necessary conditions, building a competitive roster, and strengthening and stabilizing the club at every level. In all of this, we need the strong support of our fans, whom I invite to join us and support the club in large numbers throughout the upcoming season. We also believe that this project will be recognized by sponsors and club partners, and we have already begun constructive discussions with several prominent Croatian and international brands. I would also like to thank the leadership of FIBA, the ABA League, and the Croatian Basketball Federation for their cooperation and support throughout the entire process”, Šerić added.
