SuperSport Premier League: Cibona wins again on Gripe and stays in the game for second place

In the derby of the 30th round SuperSport Premier League, Split lost against Cibona on Gripe 63:73 (22:23, 19:19, 13:10, 9:12)

Match report

It was a game of two completely different halves. In the first half, Split were more aggressive and even held an eight-point lead (37–29), but Cibona managed to claw their way back by halftime. In the second half, it was a completely different story—Cibona were the more aggressive side, raised their defensive intensity, while Split struggled to find solutions on offense. This was especially evident in the final quarter, when the home team scored their first field goal only a minute and a half before the end.

For Split, the only standout performer was Jordano with 17 points. Cibona looked more cohesive as a team, which is reflected in the fact that five players scored in double digits (Čakarun 15, Šiško and Hepa 13 each, Radovčić and Roberson 11 each).

“At halftime, I felt we could win the game if we repeated the defense from the end of the second quarter. That’s exactly what we did—every player contributed to the victory. We’re not chasing second place; if it comes, great. We’re taking it game by game”, said Cibona head coach Ivan Rudež.
