SuperSport Premier League: Cibona beats Cedevita Junior in derby
In the 7th round of the SuperSport Premier League, Cibona defeated city rival Cedevita Junior with a score of 90:79 (19:21, 24:21, 28:19, 19:18). The city derby brought an exciting game full of pace, attractive moves and twists, and the Vukovi deservedly celebrated in front of their fans at Dražen's home
Coach Rudež opted for a starting lineup of Šiško, Roberson, Katanović, Skorić, and Rudan. The visitors opened the game better, while Cibona took their first lead in the fourth minute. The crowd was brought to its feet by an emphatic dunk from Justin Roberson, who already showed at that point that he would be one of the key players of the night.
The first quarter was played basket for basket, with Cedevita Junior finishing it with a narrow 21–19 lead. In the second quarter, Cibona increased the tempo — thanks to inspired performances from Skorić and Roberson, the home side went ahead 31–25. The visitors briefly fought back through Šare, Williams, and Zemljić, but a three-pointer from captain Krešimir Radovčić restored the lead for the Wolves (41–39). The teams went into halftime with Cibona leading 43–42, while Roberson had already scored 13 points.
The third quarter proved decisive — Cibona scored as many as 28 points, extended the lead to 71–61, and took control of the game. In the closing stages, Cedevita tried to close the gap (74–66, 83–74, 88–79), but Cibona remained composed and focused.
The standout player of the game was Justin Roberson with 21 points, followed by Luka Skorić with 17. For the visitors, Corey Allen Williams stood out with 21 points, while Gainey added 16.
Cibona continue their European campaign already on Tuesday against Dijon in the FIBA Europe Cup, while in the domestic league they will face Alkar Sinj.
