Žan Mark Šiško: "I'm glad to be back at Cibona"
After a few weeks of preparation and training, Cibona and Žan Mark Šiško have agreed to cooperate

After almost ten years, Slovenian point guard Žan Mark Šiško will once again play for KK Cibona. His return to Dražen’s home comes after gaining valuable experience with clubs such as Ilirija, Koper Primorska, Bayern, and Río Breogán. He did not play last season due to personal reasons, but is now ready for a fresh start in Zagreb, where he first wore the Wolves jersey as an 18-year-old.
Šiško does not hide his excitement about returning to a familiar environment:
“I feel great—it’s already been ten years since I last played here. I came when I was 18, and the club is now in a slightly different situation. I’m happy to be back because I felt good here even then. Although that first period didn’t end in the best way, as I left the club after just a year and a half, my goal now is to help Cibona as much as I can”.
Šiško points out that his recent break from basketball was challenging, but also an opportunity to reset. That is precisely why joining Cibona represents a chance to rebuild his career on new foundations, with a clear vision he recognized in conversations with sporting director Marin Rozić.
“After two years of not playing, I was looking for a new environment where I could continue my career and start over. The opportunity to come here opened up, I spoke with Rozić, and I think this is a good situation for both me and the club. Together we can help each other—I can get back on track in basketball, and Cibona can return to where it belongs”.
Preparations have only just begun, and the team is still being formed. Nevertheless, the experienced Slovenian playmaker is aware that his role will be important, especially when it comes to younger teammates.
“It’s still too early to talk about my role—it’s only the beginning of preparations, and it takes time for things to fall into place. But as it looks now, I will probably be one of the older and more experienced players. My goal is to help my teammates and the team have as successful a season as possible”.
In addition to his on-court experience, Šiško brings energy that he hopes to pass on to the fans. His return to the club is also emotionally significant, as he says he has always had a special relationship with the people at Dražen’s home.
“I will give everything I can for the club. The fans can expect commitment, fighting spirit, and energy. I’ve always had a great relationship with the people in the club and the fans—that meant a lot to me and is one of the reasons I returned. I hope that with our performances we will attract people back to the arena and that Dražen’s home will be full again, so we can enjoy basketball together”.
With the return of Žan Mark Šiško, Cibona gains an experienced presence on the court, while fans get the chance to once again watch a familiar and beloved face.
