Cibona receive invitation to compete in the Basketball Champions League junior tournament

BC Cibona have received an invitation to compete in the Youth Basketball Champions League (Youth BCL), a European competition for junior club teams. The Youth Basketball Champions League was established in April 2023, with the upcoming season set to be the fifth edition since its inception.

Cibona’s junior teams have a rich tradition of success in the youth categories. In 2019, the club won the ABA League Junior Championship, defeating Crvena zvezda in the final in Slavonski Brod, with Roko Prkačin named MVP of the Final Tournament. In 2022, Cibona won the Croatian championship titles in the U13 and cadet categories. In the 2024/25 season, Cibona’s cadets once again became Croatian champions, defeating Zadar in the final, while the junior team finished third at the national championship Final Tournament.

The invitation to compete in the Youth BCL is part of the Club’s broader strategy focused on developing its youth categories as a foundation for long-term sustainable operations. Investment in junior development is part of the same vision underpinning Cibona’s transformation into a sports joint-stock company: building a modern, stable organization in which the development of homegrown players plays a key role in the Club’s return to the European stage.
